Letter
from Nathan: 13 July 2009
Well, everybody, I'm here at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, learning to
fly the greatest war machine ever devised...the AH-64 Longbow
Apache helicopter. I'll be able to fight and win America's wars
while having a blast flying the most awesome helicopter ever
built. And get paid to do it! Studying and watching TV is all
I've really been up to lately, Of course, you guys can just call
me the Sky Cowboy...that's what I go by these days...at least in
my own head.
The Army has been good to me, and I've been good to the Army.
Iraq...check. Afghanistan...check. NTC...check. What is left for
me to conquer??? IRAN!!! That is, if the good ol' USA needs me
to.
I've been spending
my time with the family, Reilly, my four year old son,
in whom I am well pleased, and my wife, Misty, watching movies,
going to the park, playing outside, etc and patiently waiting
for my little girl Atalee Mae. I sure
wish the Hogs would start winning football games...it would make
my life easier here in Georgia.
I've made some good friends while here at Fort Rucker and
Hunter Army Airfield.
Unfortunately, the Army life is going to tear me apart from most
of them. It is just the way it has to be and after being the the
Army for seven years now I have learned that new
friends await me at my next duty station. I think I have a
friend in just about every state. Now how many people can say
that?
Yep, I'm making a career out of the
Army. I retire at age 40...if the Army sees fit to let me go at
that time. After that, I plan on becoming a schoolteacher
hopefully at a high school. I'd like to teach kids history. Who
knows in 13 years a lot of things will change. We will see.
I do, however, miss hunting and fishing and being guaranteed
time off of work to go where ever I please. Small sacrifice for
the Army life, though. If what I do now can make a difference in
the world for my beautiful baby boy to grow up in, then it's all
worthwhile. Hopefully, when people think of me they think of an
all-around good guy who has made the world a better place.
Oh and I Support the Fair Tax. It's fair. It puts power back in
the people's hands. It puts over $600 back into my paycheck
every month. Nobody's investments will be taxed. Property taxes
will be a thing of the past. The current embedded (read: hidden)
taxes in EVERY item you buy, whether new or used will be
eliminated, thus lowering prices of all consumer goods. Your
money will go farther. Paying the tax will be optional. Only new
items will be taxed, and only once. If you buy a new car, you
pay the tax. If you buy a used car, the tax has already been
paid on it and you don't pay the tax. Social Security and
Medicare will be better funded. Jobs will flow like a fire hose
back into America. The dollar will be the almighty currency of
of the world again!
Sincerely,
CW2 CRAIG
PS: GO HOGS GO!!!
